For more than 20 years the Delaware River Sojourn has brought together paddlers for a week of fun on the River. Its goal is to heighten awareness of, and appreciation for the ecological, historical, recreational, and economic significance of the Delaware River and its tributaries, which flow through New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. The Sojourn combines canoeing and kayaking, camping, educational programs, historical interpretation, and more. The theme in 2017 was "Flowing Together." The Delaware is the longest free-flowing River east of the Mississippi, a treasure to be preserved and protected. Two National Parks cover portions of the Delaware paddled in 2017, The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River and The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Paddlers of many ages enjoyed sections of the River from Lackawaxen to Riegelsville. Day one started with a train ride along the Lackawaxen River and included a day on the Lehigh River and Lehigh Canal. Below is a collection of pictures from the 2017 Sojourn, June 17-23.
